TL;DR — Chat42 Review 2026
Chat42 is a free one-on-one slumpmässig videochatt brand that pairs you with strangers in the browser. Its chat42.org site promises guest access, region and interest filters and no premium tier, and says its dashboard runs on Coomeet’s video chatt system. It names no operator and states no age rule, which makes it hard to trust. Rating: 2/5.
- Best for: Adults curious about a quick, no-sign-up slumpmässig videochatt.
- Cost: Free, according to the site.
- Standout feature: Region and interest-tag filters without an account.
- Skip it if: You want a clearly identified operator, written rules and a firm 18+ policy.
Chat42 is a random video chatt that matches you one-on-one with strangers, much like the Russian-born roulette sites it is often compared with. Older write-ups described it as a Russian-language chat that later went international, but we could not confirm that history today. If you like the roulette format, our Chatruletka review covers the best-known Russian original, and how OmeTV handles random matching is a useful benchmark.

What is Chat42?
Chat42 is a browser-based random video chat that connects you with one stranger at a time. The chat42.org site describes HD video, noise-cancelling audio, a low-bandwidth mode and in-chat stickers, games and AR filters, and says its dashboard integrates with Coomeet’s video chat system. That link matters, because our Coomeet review explains how that service works and what it charges for, which is a useful reference for what you may end up using.
Hur fungerar Chat42?
Chat42 works like most roulette-style chats: open the site, allow your camera and get matched with a random stranger.
- Open chat42.org in a desktop or mobile browser.
- Allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
- Optionally set region or interest filters in the Preferences menu, or choose Surprise Me.
- Start chatting with your match.
- Skip to the next person whenever you want a new partner.
Chat42 features
Chat42’s advertised features are aimed at quick, low-effort video chats, though we could not test every one of them.
| Särdrag | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Guest mode | Start chatting without an account | Fast entry, nothing to fill in |
| Region filter | Prefer matches from a chosen area | Easier to find a shared language or time zone |
| Interest tags | Match on shared topics | Better conversation starters |
| Low-bandwidth mode | Reduces video quality on slow connections | Fewer dropped calls on mobile data |
| Stickers, games and AR filters | Add effects and mini games to a chat | Breaks the ice with new people |
| Optional verified profiles | Lets users verify themselves | Some extra trust, if people use it |
Is Chat42 free?
Chat42 says it is free, with no trials, hidden costs or premium memberships, and no paywall on HD video or matching. Because it also says it runs on Coomeet’s system, which sells paid minutes, check carefully before entering any payment details.
Chat42 pros and cons
Chat42 is quick to start, but too little is known about who runs it.
| Fördelar | Nackdelar |
|---|---|
| No account needed to start | No named operator or company details |
| Region and interest filters | No age rule stated on the homepage |
| Low-bandwidth mode for mobile | Several sites use the Chat42 name |
| Advertised as free | Relies on Coomeet’s system, which sells paid minutes |
| Fun extras like stickers and games | Very little independent coverage |
Is Chat42 safe?
Chat42 is only as safe as your own precautions, because it names no operator, publishes no clear age rule on its homepage and offers no visible detail on moderation.
- Keep your face, room and background free of anything that identifies you or where you live.
- Never share your full name, social media handles or phone number.
- Assume anything on camera can be recorded.
- Skip immediately if someone pushes you to move to another app or pay for something.
- Only enter payment details on a site whose operator you can identify.
18+ only: random video chat is for adults. Camround is strictly 18+, and you should only use any stranger chat if you are an adult.
