TL;DR — Chatous Review 2026
Chatous is a free anonymous chat app that pairs you with strangers by shared interest tags for text, video and expiring photos. The interest matching is a nice idea, but the Android app has not been updated since 2023, users are not verified and the service is not limited to adults. Rating: 2/5.
- Best for: Adults who want topic-based text chats with strangers on mobile.
- Cost: Free; optional tokens from $0.99 to $199.99 on iOS.
- Standout feature: Matching by interest tags instead of pure randomness.
- Skip it if: You want an actively updated, adults-only service with verified users.
Chatous launched as a mobile-first way a discuta anonymously about shared interests, and that core idea still sets it apart from roulette-style video sites. Today it feels neglected rather than growing. If interest-led text chat appeals to you, our full Chatib review covers a browser-based room alternative, and the best free chat apps for meeting strangers compares other mobile options.

What is Chatous?
Chatous is a one-on-one anonymous chat app that connects you with strangers who share your interests, then lets you continue the conversation by text, video or disappearing photos. Unlike group room sites such as Tinychat’s video rooms, every Chatous conversation is private between two people, and you can keep chatting with people you click with.
How does Chatous work?
Chatous works by matching you with a stranger based on the tags you choose, or at random if you skip them.
- Download Chatous from the App Store or Google Play, or open chatous.com.
- Create a free account with a username and fill in optional profile fields such as interests and language.
- Enter a topic or interest tag, or start a chat aleatoriu.
- Chat by text, switch to video, or send a photo that expires.
- End the chat, block or report the person if needed, and start a new one.
Chatous features
Chatous’s features are focused on private, interest-led conversations.
| Caracteristică | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Interest tags | Matches you on shared topics | Better conversations than pure random chat |
| Chat text | One-on-one messaging | Low-pressure way to start |
| Chat video | Face-to-face calls within a chat | Move from text to video when you are ready |
| Expiring photos | Photos that disappear after viewing | Less lasting exposure, though screenshots are still possible |
| Saved chats | Keep talking with people you like | Builds ongoing conversations |
| Report and block | Flag spam, sexual content or harassment | Basic protection against bad actors |
Este Chatous gratuit?
Yes, Chatous is free to download and use. The App Store lists optional token packs from $0.99 for 50 tokens up to $199.99 for 60,000, and the Android app shows ads and in-app purchases.
Chatous pros and cons
Chatous has a smart matching idea held back by neglect and weak safeguards.
| Avantaje | Contra |
|---|---|
| Gratuit de utilizat | Android app not updated since August 2023 |
| Interest-based matching | Website policies last revised in 2013 |
| Text, video and photos in one chat | No user verification |
| Report and block tools | Not an adults-only service |
| Large install base (10M+ on Android) | Mixed Google Play rating of 3.5/5 |
Este Chatous sigur?
Chatous is only moderately safe for adults: it has report and block tools and automated spam scanning, but its own terms say users are not screened or verified, and it is not restricted to adults, so you cannot assume who you are talking to.
- Use a username unconnected to your real name or social accounts.
- Remember that expiring photos can still be screenshotted.
- Never share your address, workplace or financial details.
- Leave and report any chat that turns sexual or abusive.
- Be wary of anyone who asks for tokens, gifts or money.
18+ note: Chatous is not an adults-only service. If you want a stranger chat built only for adults, Camround is strictly 18+.
